A second-hand tulip catalog featuring dazzling color photos inspired this piece. Not only were the shots positively glamorous but the names of the flowers – many honoring people, suggested lives beyond the floodlights. I used collage elements to illustrate and heighten the imagined personalities.
Although I started this piece some years ago I have recently added to it as my source materials suggested new possibilities. For example, sometimes you just need to find one perfect ear.
